SubjectReally Ssslllllooooooowwwwwww lilo load of kernel.

Hello All, Yesterday I purchased a Diamond FirePort 40 .
It's easier to describe my present config than go thru the
history that lead to this .

symptom is an extremely slow (approx 5 minutes) load of the
kernel from sda1 at present both scsi controllers share
irq 9 . But the symptom is the same if they don't , I did
test this . The activity light remains lighted and then will
flicker and a few seconds another '.' will appear . But once
the system is up it is as responsive as ever . The present
configuration on the FP-40 is a supported configuration
according to the manual as long as nothing is attached external .

The present dmesg after my .sig & the present
compile environment .
patches: linux-2.0.36-alan-pre6 only.

Now the description ,
Main memory size: 128 Mbytes
1 AuthenticAMD 586 processor
2 16550A serial ports
1 1.44M floppy drive
no IDE devices .
