SubjectLots of kernel oopses in pre-2.1.122-2 (CPU not overclocked)

    Hello again,

Thanks to Jauder Ho for fixing the Celeron CPU mis-detection. Now on to
    other things...

I can reliably cause an oops in pre-2.1.122-2 by running "rmmod -a" twice.
The bootup log output, oops, ksymoops output, and .config follow my
signature. Also, I get a lot of cascading oopses if I run isapnp, although
I'm not sure if that falls under the category of "doing something stupid
as root" or not. :-) I don't have dumps of those oopses, it ends with a
message "in interrupt, not syncing" (pretty close to that), nothing is
dumped to my logs and I can't scroll back far enough to see the beginning
    of the screen dump.

I suspect the oops is related to the following log messages:
Sep 12 06:35:59 sleepy kernel: Error seeking in /dev/kmem
Sep 12 06:35:59 sleepy kernel: Error adding kernel module table entry.

Here is a listing of the modules that are loaded when I boot:
    [dwhysong@Sleepy dwhysong]$ lsmod
    Module Size Used by
    cs4232 2240 0 (autoclean)
    uart401 5584 0 (autoclean) [cs4232]
    ad1848 14088 0 (autoclean) [cs4232]
    sound 55452 0 (autoclean) [cs4232 uart401 ad1848]
    soundcore 1840 5 (autoclean) [sound]
    serial 16568 2 (autoclean)
    3c59x 16352 1 (autoclean)
    unix 9732 16 (autoclean)
    nls_cp437 3540 1 (autoclean)
    msdos 6876 1 (autoclean)
    fat 23980 1 (autoclean) [msdos]

In addition, wavefront.o tries to load but fails. Only the sound modules
    are unused, I think.

Once again, the system is: Celeron/266, Tyan Tiger 100 (intel BX chipset)
motherboard, 128 MB ECC memory, IDE disks, NCR810a SCSI, 3com 3c905B
ethernet, 14.4 modem, Matrox Millenium G200 video, Turtle Beach Tropez+
    sound card.
