Not really. The previous kernel I used was 2.1.111 and I didn't come
across this problem (but I did not explicitly test it). I had this
problem with some of the 2.1.9x kernels, but there WAS a known
sound-floppy lockup problem, which was supposed to be fixed.

So no idea, but tonight I will sit down and find the responsible patch.
