SubjectRe: Linux 2.1.115ac1 released - problems?

Hmmm... Looks like a few other things might have changed...

Uh huh... I've needed this...

Oh man! Oh yes! Happy days! I needed this!

OTOH...

Problem:

When I went from 2.1.114 to 2.1.115ac1, my 3c905 card quit working.
Specifically, it quit being recognized at all. I compiled up a clean
2.1.115 with no ac1 patch and the card is recognized. Patched that source
tree with ac1 and recompiled everything with that same configuration
(make dep ; make clean ; make bzImage) and the card is no longer recognized
once again. Seems like someone else reported the same thing with a Tulip
PCI card (sorry did not save the message). I have been seeing this warning
for a long while now, whenever I compile the 3c59x.c driver, though:

] gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/mnt2/src/linux-2.1.115ac1/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o 3c59x.o 3c59x.c
] In file included from 3c59x.c:80:
] /mnt2/src/linux-2.1.115ac1/include/linux/bios32.h:11: warning: #warning This driver uses the old PCI interface, please fix it (see Documentation/pci.txt)
] 3c59x.c:507: warning: `full_duplex' defined but not used
] 3c59x.c:509: warning: `root_vortex_dev' defined but not used

Could it be that this "old PCI interface" is no longer working in
2.1.115ac1? The drivers/net/3c59x.c file did not get modified by ac1 and
I'm not sure just what did that would have caused this. I don't know
if the Tulip driver gives the same "old PCI interface" warning since I
don't use the Tulip cards.

At this point, I've compiled up three 2.1.115ac1 kernels each from
clean sources and two of 2.1.115 from clean sources. The ac1 patch breaks
the 3c905 recognition. It appears that the driver can no longer locate
the card...

Thoughts? Alan? Donald?
