Yes, this is happening here too, on 2.1.114 and no framebuffer support. Running VESA text mode 132x60, loading lat1u-08.psf at boot-up, but it doesn't seem to reach beyond the first console.
If I have time, I'll try looking into it myself, but we're working hard at 'work' this weekend.
Hope we can find a solution.
