Just to throw in a silly tidbit of info: the last time we spoke to the
folks at Oracle, they didn't support >2G files on Solaris 2.6 yet. This
was about two months ago. How long has 2.6 been out? (Actually, shouldn't
    2.7 be released soonish?)

While it's important to support, I don't think it'll be critical. Oracle,
at the very least, handles multiple files for a single dataset invisibly,
so multiple 2G files aren't a real problem. We've needed to do that with a
few databases where I work (a Solaris 2.x shop).

Just to put the whole 'we have to support Oracle and Informix' argument
    into perspective.
