Ok gang... Looks like one more for the FAQ...

Due to a change in the file_operations kernel structure, a lot
of drivers needed updating to inserted a "flush" structure element. The
joystick driver got missed. The pcmcia package gets compiled outside
of the kernel and needed to be updated. I saw one message where the
updated driver had a typo that commented out a couple of structure
elements. Any driver which was not properly updated is going to
cause the kernel to blow an Oops, possibly at unpredictable times.
Catch up on the "2.1.118 tons of oops" thread on the kernel list.
I've heard rumor of a 2.1.119pre1 but haven't found it yet.

The drivers that have NOT been properly updated SHOULD yield
up a compiler warning about an initializer type mismatch and the line
number of the offending line.

Those that haven't been bit are probably safe (their only using
the updated drivers).

If you get bit by the 2.1.118 oops, your choices are:

1) Find and shoot your particular oops by hand fixing the
file_operations structure in the driver which caused it this time.

2) Drop back to 2.1.117ac3

3) Find 2.1.119pre?

4) Wait for 2.1.119

I'm opting for #2 followed by #4...
