The 2.1.x vm layer isnt much different so we can't expect it to improve materially. It does seem to be a lot better however

Thats almost always hardware problems. You are also running 2.0.33 which has plenty of known bugs fixed in .34/.35/.36pre, including the ability to crash it remotely
