SubjectCx586 detection

with 2.1.117 compiled as smp, the kernel can't detect
the cpu
compiled as up, it detects the cpu as cx586 (though
cpuid = -1)

2.0.35 can't detect the cpu (i thought it has the complete
cpu detection code)

anyway, the cpu always has cpu_family=4
should i compile it as a pentium or a 486? (in 2.1.x config
5x86 falls into the same category as pentium)
