Cygnus do cool stuff - no doubt about it.
But there are other manufacturers out there with custom RISC chips, etc. that could benefit greatly from having someone (like Cygnus) port GCC to their hardware.
And if vendors want their chips/applications to perform better, then there is probably considerable room in the generic gcc code for code optimization improvements.
