Er.. it *sometimes* generates incorrect code.
Wouldn't it be better to simply generate an error ("sorry, but ...")for cases where it doesn't generate correct code. [If Linus's usage are the only known cases where it generates correct code then these would be base for the template of what's acceptable.]
