The point being that I want to know _why_.

Cache locality, better packing when SLAB knows the exact size of the
skbuff structure, better packing also because SLAB now only has to
pack skbuff structures not skbuff structures + data buffer itself.
Better cloning behavior came as a nice side effect of what I just
mentioned.
