When running X, I try to switch out of it with Ctl-Atl-F1 and my machine hangs, completely. I have enabled SysRq support, and even that doesn't unjam (or even reboot) my machine. I had the same problem with 2.1.111 as well.
Some details:
icarus.com % uname -a Linux icarus.com 2.1.115 #15 Fri Aug 14 14:54:24 PDT 1998 alpha unknown icarus.com % /gnu/test/bin/gcc -v Reading specs from /gnu/test/lib/gcc-lib/alphaev5-unknown-linux-gnu/egcs-2.91.51/specs gcc version egcs-2.91.51 19980714 (gcc2 ss-980609 experimental)
I do not have frame buffer support specifically enabled. Should I?
I also have a module that allocates/reserves pages. When I unreserve/release that memory, I get exactly the same hang. (This driver worked fine on 2.1.109, and works fine on 2.0.x kernels.) Could this be at all related?
