Greetings,
It seems that I have to report a very solid crash of 2.1.111 (with the fix for the smp_invalidate_needed thing.)
Description of the crash: Right after a lot of disk activity (no swapping, but a few recursive directory duplications, some equally recursive `make clean's, and a big `tar cv | gzip'), I mounted a VFAT zip disk. I then got the familiar `click' of the zip drive, immediately followed by a not so familiar visual experience: my display (I was running X) went black, with the of the screen showing about 4 lines of garbled greenish characters, at which point the machine was completely dead.
The log files only give me the usual zip messages:
Jul 28 01:19:45 jebril kernel: SCSI device sdb: hdwr sector= 512 bytes. Sectors= 196608 [96 MB] [0.1 GB] Jul 28 01:19:45 jebril kernel: VFS: Disk change detected on device 08:14
Description of the system: Tyan Tomcat II (SMP), main disk attached to an AHA 2940AU, zip disk to its own AHA 152x clone, Matrox Millenium I (4MB). The rest of the hardware should not be relevant. Kernel 2.1.111, compiled with gcc 2.7.2.3. Config file attached.
Now that I'm at it: during the weekend, I also had a case of a copy to the zip drive getting stuck in D state. My main disk was also rather busy at the same time and my modem lights were also flashing rather frantically as well, so interrupts galore. I *think* I still was running 2.1.109 at the time.

By the way: has anybody written a real and working fsck.vfat? I hate it when I have to boot WinSlows just to run Scandisk...
