Hi guys,
I've been testing the v2.1.110 kernel with mem=xM settings. I've found that using mem=2M, mem=3M causes the kernel to panic with a message about VFS being unable to mount root filesystem. Setting to 4M works just fine (I don't even notice the difference between 16M (normal on this P75+), and 4MB :o) Settings with 2.5M, 3.5M do not work since lilo doesn't recognise these. :o( I didn't even DARE to try mem=1M, but I suppose someone else will get that to work!
How about we have a competition to find the guy who's managed to boot with the LEAST amount of memory and run a bash shell and do a cat of /proc/meminfo? :)
Cheers, Alex.
