Actually, the "charm" is that alpha defines ino_t to be 32-bits in posix_types.h. I don't know whether this is correct or not, as some other 64-bit archs have ino_t as 64 bits, and I would think that posix should say one way or the other what the size is.
If your alpha knfsd is working OK, I'd appreciate a quick test of the knfsd fh changes. It shouldn't change any behavior, but I want to make sure nothing is broken.
Also, I have a minor patch for alpha/kernel/osf_sys.c that needs testing to make sure nothing is broken.
