Am I doing something wrong? I have a Matrox Mystique, and had exactly the same problem trying to get it to boot in graphics mode.
I read the docs, they say LILO doesn't support hex numbers, you must enter in the decimal value. So I did and it rejects it. Ok, I think, lets try the hex number anyway and see what happens. Hey presto, it works.
I do have a problem with it though. I do most of my work in X, but occasionally switch to a text screen. Now that I have booted up in a graphics mode and gone to X, I can't go back without my monitor complaining about incorrect refresh rates.
