Several people have said the page colouring can make up to 15% of different on some platforms such as the MIPS - I take, that the Sparc isn't one of these platforms that performs 'theoretically' better then?
Oh, and with regards to L2 caches - how would code handle the different types of L2 caches on (say) the Pentium vs Pentium-MMX vs PPro vs Pentium-][ not to mention quite a few other variables in there?
