    This means you wouldn't resize the file system to break a raid disk set.

    In principle, if you could extract a map which indicates how the
    partitions would be laid out after breaking the set, it would be
    possible to support file system resizing for raid breaking (which
    wouldn't require anything else new for LVM, or would it?).
