I am also a died in the wool Slackware fan . But I've had reasonable success with installing redhat 5.0 on my alpha- station200 . I followed (somewhat) the Redhat Installation Guide & the Alpha Addenda , My only beef with redhat is its /etc/rc.d/init.d/'all those scripts that require other scripts' startup directory .

I've heard tell of another (? Debian | SuSe ?) that is -very- slackware like, although it uses the RPM facility to install everything .
