This reminds me, by default, GNU df syncs data before checking the free block counts, you can disable this using --no-sync, but it would be nicer to default to not doing a sync unless explicitly required (eg. --sync).
When deleting gobs of data (i.e. trashing a news spool) doing 'df' to check progress is damned handy....
