I have also tried crashme on my K6 (step 2) and found, after many tries, that 'crashme +2000 18268 100' crashes the system instantaneously if and only if the kernel version is <= 2.1.42. The problem disappear with a Cyrix P200+.
So it really looks like it is a K6 bug. By miracle, we already have a workaround hidden somewhere in patch-2.1.43...
