This built for me with gcc-2.8.1, and is running on my k5/pci/ide ppp-connected box.
Still minor dmesg carping:
May 20 21:08:44 gilgamesh kernel: Symbols match kernel version 2.1.103. May 20 21:08:44 gilgamesh kernel: Error seeking in /dev/kmem May 20 21:08:44 gilgamesh kernel: Error adding kernel module table entry. May 20 21:08:44 gilgamesh kernel: Linux version 2.1.103 (root@gilgamesh.uruk) (gcc version 2.8.1) #30 Wed May 20 20:53:44 EDT 1998
Apparently the '%' in the message below is confusing the logger or somesuch thing. dmesg shows:
VP_IDE: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later
grep VP /var/log/messages shows:
May 20 21:08:44 gilgamesh kernel: VP_IDE: not 100ative mode: will probe irqs later
'Kernel for sale cheap. Looks rough but runs good.'
