| |
Hello I have a hanging TCP connection is state CLOSE_WAIT that is hanging around for about 4 days now. The connection belongs to a sendmail process that I can't kill. BTW: both hosts are alive and reachable.
The connection looks like
Active Internet connections (w/o servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State tcp 100 35172 kgate.dvm.klinik.:19499 rkmmhnw1.dvm.klini:smtp CLOSE_WAIT
/proc/net/tcp starts like
sl local_address rem_address st tx_queue rx_queue tr tm->when retrnsmt ui d timeout inode 0: 12B0C784:0017 0FB0C784:0D1B 01 00000000:00000000 01:00015F8A 00000000 0 0 1672230 1: 12B0C784:09F4 13B0C784:0019 08 00008964:00000064 01:00000FB7 00000000 0 0 1656515 2: 12B0C784:4C2B 13B0C784:0019 08 00008964:00000064 01:00001208 00000000 0 0 1471249 3: 00000000:0019 00000000:0000 0A 00000000:00000000 00:F183E391 00000000 0 0 1389629
The kernel is not quite plain vanilla 2.0.33, but the version that S.u.S.E. delivers (2.0.33 + some patches).
This is the only hanging connection. I hope I have no classical deadlock:
postmaster@kgate:/proc/net > ps -lax | grep mail warning: `-' deprecated; use `ps lax', not `ps -lax' FLAGS UID PID PPID PRI NI SIZE RSS WCHAN STA TTY TIME COMMAND 140 0 51 1 0 0 1252 292 do_select S ? 6:27 sendmail: 140 0 24352 1 0 0 1328 248 wait_for_tc S ? 0:44 (sendmail 100140 0 6238 51 0 0 1344 788 wait_for_tc S ? 0:46 sendmail:
The symbols in question seem to be one of
00148e00 t wait_for_tcp_connect 00148e50 t wait_for_tcp_memory
The machine is a 486 33MHz with 26MB of RAM and little load.
Regards, Ulrich
