SubjectPLIP

Every since replacing the old 486/66 board I used to have with a Tyan
Tomcat IV, I haven't been able to do PLIP with my Toshiba Laptop. The 486
had an SPP parallel port and did about 2k/second.

The laptop is running 2.0.33 and has an ECP parallel port:
NET3 PLIP version 2.2 gniibe@mri.co.jp
plip1: Parallel port at 0x378, using assigned IRQ 7.

The Tyan has 2.1.93 and:
parport0: PC-style at 0x378, irq 7, dma 3 [SPP,ECP,ECPEPP,ECPPS2]
NET3 PLIP version 2.3-parport gniibe@mri.co.jp

Any pings laptop->desktop get a transmit timeout. Any pings
desktop->laptop cause the laptop to log transmit timeout. Things just
don't seem to be getting in one direction. I'm going to rebuild 2.0.33 on
the Tyan as soon as it is downloaded over the modem line.

I've also figured out that whenever the parport has an irq specified, it
doesn't print a thing. If I remove the:
options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7
line from modules.conf, it detects the port and dma, but not the irq.
Sounds bad, but at least it prints without the IRQ. PLIP won't work
without an IRQ and I cannot print with an IRQ...odd.
