Hello,
I just wanted to mention that if one has two ethernet cards, one PCI and another ISA then the cards are detected in different order, depending on whether you are booting 2.0.x (2.0.32) or 2.1.x (2.1.98) kernel, presumably because the order of autodetection has changed in 2.1.x.
Of course, if this is important, then it should probably be left as is but if not, can it be put back to the way it was in 2.0.x because a sysadmin needs to run netcfg and change interface information each time...
Just a comment on "convenience" - it is not a very strong or important argument...
