Adding a bootlogo to 2.1 has been an idea in the back of my mind for a while (since I first saw the penguin-bootlogo patch in 2.0), and it looks like you've done it quite well.
I did have a problem with you patch, though. The kernel compiled without a hitch, and I rebooted to see my beautiful new bootlogo, but when it showed itself it appeared as though the entire palette was red and black. I could see the outline of the penguin, of the ''linux 2.0'', but it was black with little red outlines, and horizontal red lines about every 1/4 inch. This was _just_ in the area of the logo. The rest of the screen was pristine.
I'd like to commend the well-done first effort, and I hope to help squash this buglet ASAP.
