On Monday, Apr 13, Gary Lawrence Murphy (garym@maya.dyn.ml.org) spake thusly: > > I've double checked my supporting software (which is not to say it > is absolutely up to date) and even spent the day migrating my > system up to ppp 2.3.3 ... > > .... but I still get about 2000 TX errors per second and dismal > throughput.
Are you sure those are genuine errors and not just a parsing error of your ifconfig? ifconfig that I got here parses the file /proc/net/dev, and for my 2.1.9? kernel does it incorrectly - there are 2 new fields in /proc/net/dev (compress & multicast) which confuse it, so that the 'packets' count gets into 'TX errors'. If this is the case, I could mail you a hacked ifconfig.c (I am not sure where its latest version is - maybe it's been fixed already).
