If you do a lsmod now you'll see that the ad1848 module has a use count of 1 when it shouldn't.

Yes, in 2.1.94 the sscape driver is compleatly messed up for me, the mpu401.o has missing symbols when I try to insmod it, but not on depmod??? Oh, well I added the symbols to sound_syms.c, and it all works fine now (well cat english.au >/dev/audio works ;).
The symbols were "sound_timer_devs", and "seq_input_event" for Alan's benifit.
