Not to push an off-topic discussion further, but I know I as quite happy in
finding this site:

At least, for PPA printers (i.e., 'WinPrinters') this site was a boon.

Why not? If someone has broken that code go ahead and write
a GhostScript driver for it. It will only make HP happier
and MicroSoft are not in a position to do anything about it.
