I think it's time I talked. I have been using XFree86 3.3.3 *and*
fbcon/vesafb/matroxfb for a week now. No problems.

There are *NO* problems anywhere with 2.1.131 with XFree86 3.3.3. There
are problems if you do not have it set up correctly but once you have it
set up right, it all works. 100%. I mean it.
