hmmm... there are smc ethercard 16 that have a "turbo mode". it works and
gets raw ftp up to 1100 kbyte/sec.

i got mine for ATS 250,-- (for both including terminators, T-adaptors
and 5 meters of cable, thats less than 20 usd.)
