I'm getting these errors with 2.0.35 kernels on HEAVY load webservers when primary nameservice goes away. (For some reason, secondary nameservice is never attempted.) I traced it to fs/binfmt_elf.c but couldn't really make out what was happening that causes this. The result is usually similar to the result described below: apache spawns up to its limit in processes, the kernel hits the FD limit, and the machine is worthless until reboot. (I've never tried bringing back the nameserver while the machine is in this state; I usually end up rebooting all affecting machines at once.)
I'd be extremely interested, as well, in hearing where this may be coming from.
