Hi!
The following command totally freezes v2.1.126 after a while:
dd if=/dev/sdc0 of=/dev/null
with /dev/sdc0 my cdrom drive.
The following modules are inserted
sr_mod 17900 1 (autoclean) cdrom 11424 0 (autoclean) [sr_mod] isofs 16204 1 (autoclean)
Even if the CD has a damaged surface, the kernel should not freeze, I think. In /var/adm/syslog I cannot find anything valuable...
