    OK, but 1.1.2 would then have to be stored in a branch off of 1.1.2, where
    it doesn't really belong.

    But in practice that's not a problem.

    Wrong. The RCS file format is somewhat stupid, but it's not _that_ stupid.
    It _does_ understand branches.
