1. It seems sound is not fixed(at least for me). I still hear terrible noise when sb insmoded with "dma16=X" in Quake.
2. I'm wondering why we don't use asm/string-486.h for 486+ machines instead of asm/string.h? The first is floating around for a long time, routines in it are faster, but nobody use them. My last(2.1.12[78]) kernels were compiled with the string routines from asm/string-486.h and there were no problems at all.
