If I run superformat /dev/fd0 sect=21 cyl=83 as a normal user (in group floppy) in one VC, and hold tab-complete in bash in another VC, (I got visual bell on, so I get this real fun to watch screen flicker)
I get a solid hang everytime. Nothing in log or on screen.
Machine has a Spacewalker m/b with Celeron 300A, Intel 440BX chipset. DEC DC21140 NIC, NCR 53c875J SCSI, S3 Inc. ViRGE/DX or /GX
RedHat 5.1 all updates, 2.0.36-pre-patch-14 superformat from fdutils-5.2
Never had *any* trouble with this box, compiled the kernel 40 times in a row under heavy load the other day.
I'll be happy to post the kernel config or more details if anyone wants it.
