SubjectSubject: General Protection Fault on `halt -p' while performing `shutdown -h'.
Hello people,

I get the following error on shutdown, while calling `halt -d -f -i -p',
with kernel version 2.1.122 patched with 2.1.122-APM.2 and compiled with:

>----------------------------------------------------------------------<
CONFIG_APM=y
# CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_USER_SUSPEND is not set
CONFIG_APM_DO_ENABLE=y
CONFIG_APM_CPU_IDLE=y
# CONFIG_APM_DISPLAY_BLANK is not set
CONFIG_APM_POWER_OFF=y
# CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_MULTIPLE_SUSPEND is not set

(you'll find a copy of the relevant part of my System.map at the end
of this message)

With kernel 2.0.35 the system stop after the corresponding error,
while with 2.1.122 and 2.1.122 patched with 2.1.122-APM.2 I also get
an Oops: 0000 (EIP: 0010:[<c0108dbb>] ... I'll include the rest next
time if you think it's very relevant). Anyway the system doesn't
powerdown as it should.

I had to copy that stuff above by hand, since it's been reported on
the console after syslogd and klogd have already been killed on
shutdown: I believe it's the exact transcription, but please be aware
that there may be errors inside.

OS: Debian GNU/Linux
Motherboard: EPoX EP-51 MVP3E rev 0.2
CPU: AMD K6-2 (3D Now!) @ 300MHz
Bios: Award 29/06/1998

Power Supply: ATX
Kernels tested: 2.0.35, 2.1.122, 2.1.122+patch(2.1.122-APM.2)

I'm willing to help, if I'm able, but currently don't subscribe to
linux-kernel, so CC will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
