HELP, PLEASE!
I just switched to a newer (pentium) motherboard:
[root@lcjdap ~]# cat /proc/pci PCI devices found: Bus 0, device 15, function 0: SCSI storage controller: NCR 53c825 (rev 2). Medium devsel. IRQ 11. Master Capable. Latency=64. I/O at 0x6600. ...And I have problems mounting an old 1,7gb Seagate hdd
kernel at booting shows...
hdb: QUANTUM FIREBALL ST3.2A, 3079MB w/81kB Cache, CHS=6256/16/63, DMA hdc: probing with STATUS instead of ALTSTATUS hdc: ST31720A, 1626MB w/0kB Cache, CHS=3305/16/63 hdd: E295X, ATAPI CDROM drive ... Partition check: sda: sda1 sda2 < sda5 > hdb: [PTBL] [782/128/63] hdb1 hdc: [PTBL] [826/64/63] hdc1 hdc2 hdc3
Whe I do
mount /dev/hdc3 /mnt
I get this error for many many times and the hard drive makes a SCARRY noise. and I have to reboot to stop this...
hdc: unexpected_intr: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } hdc: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } hdc: drive not ready for command ide1: reset: success hdc: unexpected_intr: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } hdc: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } hdc: drive not ready for command ide1: reset: success hdc: unexpected_intr: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } hdc: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest } hdc: drive not ready for command ide1: reset: success
and I have to reboot to stop this...
If I do mount /dev/hdc3 /mnt -o ro (the partition is mounted nicely and fast)
On the older motherboard I can safely mount R/W anytime the hdc3 partition.
I boot from a SCSI NCR 53c825 Quantum Fireball "sda1" so I am not in danger but I would like to be able to use that hard drive "hdc"'s partitions in R/W mode.
I tried totally disabling UDMA on the motherboard from the BIOS setup utility but still won't work, disabling PIO doesn't help either :(((
HELP ME PLEASE!
Thank you.
Sorry if too offtopic. But may be a kernel problem too.
