I am unable to get to my cdrom a Acer/Jas CD-910E 10X. I'm not sure about the 2.0 series (because I have not compiled one of these in a long time.)
The story goes like this:
A while ago I flashed a new bios for my MB (asus p2t4 rev 3.1) and my cdrom disappeared. This was also the case under Win95. Fine revert to the old bios and all was back to normal.
Later I have tried some newer beta-bioses and now the cdrom is gone in linux when compiled as a module, but has come back under Win95 This leads me to think there is a problem with the cdrom-driver in linux when compiled as a module.
This is an IDE-CDROM as master on the second port.
I'll be glad to provide more info on this if someone tells me what to look for.
Cheers and keep up the good work.
Kjartan
