Then would would IMHO be most logical to have

/dev/sd/c0b0t4l0s1
/dev/st/c0b0t5
/dev/scd/c0b0t6

(I personally would prefer the controller/bus/target/lun/slice scheme)

and

/dev/id/b0l0s1 (primary IDE bus, master)
/dev/it/b1l1 (secondary IDE, slave)
/dev/icd/b0l1 (primary, slave)

(well, what corresponds correctly to the SCSI naming scheme ? perhaps
not _b_us, but _c_ontroller and _t_arget instead of _l_un ? feel free
to add your .02)

and why not

/dev/fd/0 ? /dev/ft/1 ?

What about the special fd devices one needs for formatting ???

Just a few incomplete thoughts ...
