2.0.31-pre9 built fine, but won't boot off my first hard disk. I
boot with LILO and I only have Linux installed on the machine I'm
installing 2.0.31-pre kernels on. It has 1 IDE disk, and the root
partition on SCSI (buslogic bt-950).

On boot, I get an `L' then an infinite number of `01's printed. I
have tried adding `linear' to /etc/lilo.conf. It didn't work.

I recently upgraded this machine to glibc-2.05 and lilo.20, but tried
down-grading to a lilo.19 built with libc5 and that didn't work
either.

I've noticed a change in the boot sequence since 2.0.31-pre7:

Aug 17 15:44:11 altair kernel: hda: Conner Peripherals 1620MB - CFS1621A, 1548MB w/0kB Cache, LBA, CHS=786/64/63

Sep 9 20:19:27 altair kernel: hda: Conner Peripherals 1620MB - CFS1621A, 1548MB w/0kB Cache, CHS=786/64/63

This machine has been happily running linux since last November under
various permutations of hardware.

Any clues or tests I can run?
