Just put 2.1.47 onto a small 8Meg machine for the first time, and noticed that it takes up a lot more memory than it used to. Checking mem right after bootup, it seems maybe 600K more is used between 2.1.47 and 2.0.30. So, the questions are, how to I get some more memory back.
- does going to a serial console and removing VT gain a lot of memory? (I think my xterm supports this) - I've got the 21-mem-leak-fix-47.patch; are they any other unofficial patches that would help out on memory?
(not counting non-kernel ways to saving memory of course)
