SubjectUTIME: On-Demand Microsecond Resolution Timers for Linux (PATCH)
Date
Hi Everyone,

The patch for on-demand microsecond resolution timers for linux
2.1.43 is finally ready. This patch and details about it is available
at http://hegel.ittc.ukans.edu/projects/utime/

The main differences between this patch and the earlier one are as follows:
1) This patch is for 2.1.43 as opposed to 2.0.22
2) Better optimization
3) The code for non-pentiums finally works (somewhat:)
4) You can enable/disable this patch by configuring the kernel
(Option to enable/disable UTIME is in the kernel hacking subsection
of the configure script)
5) No hardcoded value of 10000 for usec per jiffies
6) This patch is under GPL

Please go through this patch and let me know your comments about it.
Also, is there any chance that this patch might be included into the
standard kernel??

thanx a lot
balaji
