The problem was seen in machines with the following
configurations:

2 3c509
1 3c900 (compiled-in) + 1 NE2000 (as module)
1 Tulip (module) + 1 NE2000 (as module)
1 Tulip (module)

The drivers for 3c900 were Becker's 0.42 and Chris Evan's
modified for 2.0.31p2.
