    SubjectRe: Kernel patch acknowledgements
       Date: Thu, 3 Jul 1997 00:22:48 -0500 (CDT)
    From: Shyamalan Pather <spather@ittc.ukans.edu>

Part of the funding for this project was provided by Sprint
corporation. Obviously, they will be acknowledged in the web pages
and supporting documentation for these patches, but should they
also be acknowledged in the source files? Will acknowledging Sprint
in the source files pose any type of problem in regards to the
patches being incorporated into the mainstream kernel under the
    GPL?

It will not pose any problem at all.

It is in fact encouraged to mention such entities, because this makes
other companies etc. who see that go "hey, maybe we should fund some
Linux kernel related research as well, X and Y doing it, why not us"
