SubjectRe: v2.1.47: depmod and lpr/parport confusion
From
Dear Philip Blundell,

dear Linux gurus,

I'm sorry I'm not able to offer a bug fix, but at any
rate, with the pre-2.1.48 patch applied, my Linux box
still fails to include a subdirectory "parport" in proc,
and
echo "test" >/dev/lp0
results in a message of "Trying to free free IRQ8".

Too bad, IRQ8 is listed for rtc in /proc/interrupts,
and parport0 is not included there. The printer gets
some data, but fails to print properly.

The relevant lines from the boot message are

--- snip, snip ---
Jul 29 07:16:37 localhost kernel: Linux version 2.1.48 (root@ernst) (gcc version 2.7.2.3) #1 Tue Jul 29 08:52:54 MEST 1997

Jul 29 07:16:37 localhost kernel: lp0: using parport0 (interrupt-driven).
--- snip, snip ---

Best regards,

Ernst
