One i know is Koen Gadeyne's set6x86 ...
it allows you to modify 6x86's configuration
registers (see page 2-24 of 6x86 databook - one of them turns on
an automatic standby mode which is *very* useful).
You can find it on tsx-11.mit.edu /pub/linux/sources/sbin/set6x86-1.2.tar.gz
