As another data point, since the unified CD-ROM driver has been in 2.1.x, Eric Youngdale's 'scsidev' utility is unable to detect my trusty old Toshiba XM-3401 SCSI CD drive _unless_ it actually has a CD in it. Not really fatal, but an annoyance I could do without.
I'm seeing the same complaints about "door unlocked" during driver probe at boot time.
