How come it (seems to) work here ?

[root@clito /root]# hdparm /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
multcount = 0 (off)
I/O support = 1 (32-bit) <---here
unmaskirq = 0 (off)
using_dma = 1 (on) <---and here
keepsettings = 0 (off)
nowerr = 0 (off)
readonly = 0 (off)
readahead = 8 (on)
geometry = 621/128/63, sectors = 5009760, start = 0

or did i misunderstand something ?
